Circassians Planned to protest in front of Russian diplomatic missions On 21-May-2011 in around 45 countries ,where Circassian communities live, against selection of Sochi ,the last capital of Circassia, as the 2014 Winter Olympics venue and to call on the Russian Government to recognize the Circassian genocide ,one of the largest genocides in history, which was committed by the Russian Empire, aiming to uproot the historical existence of Circassians in their land”
In the time Russia defeated Napoleon and Persians, Invaded Poland, Crimean Khanate and Baltic States, It wasn't able to Invade Circassia and to defeat Circassian warriors. Russian-Circassian war lasted for 101 years, and the only way for Russia to win the war was by killing innocent people, women and children. over than 1.5 Million Circassians were killed and exiled from their historical land.
Nowadays, 93% of Circassians live in diaspora, keeping their culture and traditions in an impressive way, fighting to keep their language, with their hope that some day they will be able to return to the Caucasus, their homeland.
